TRE Classes
Humans store stress in their muscles. It is a natural reaction to trauma and part of our ‘fight, flight or freeze’ instinct. There have been numerous studies on how tension in our body can lead to emotional anxiety.
Tension & Trauma Releasing Exercises (TRE®) are a series of exercises that assist the body in releasing deep muscular patterns of stress, tension and trauma. It uses seven core activities – including muscle stretches – in a process which activates a natural reflex mechanism of shaking or vibrating that releases muscular tension, calming down the nervous system.
The therapeutic muscle tremors evoked by the TRE exercise process is a natural, internal, neuro-physiological response of the body to reduce its own stress and restore a sense of well-being. The aim is to restore a natural balance which can improve sleep, boost energy, reduce muscle pain, and increase emotional resilience.
